Columbia Pacific (ColPac) Maritime at Southwestern Oregon Community College. In short, this ColPac Class Menu page is a list of the US Coast Guard approved classes we offer. To clarify, the term “USCG approved class” means no exams at the Coast Guard.

ColPac Class Menu: Original Issue Classes

OUPV (6-pack Captain). This class is 8-days and $1,000.

Master 25, 50, or 100-ton. This class is 10-days and $1,200.

Master or Mate 200-ton (full course). This is a two-classes over 14-days for $1,800. To clarify, this includes the Master 100-ton followed by the Upgrade 100 to 200-ton.

Apprentice Mate (Steersman) of Towing (full course). This is a three-classes over 16-days for $2,000. To clarify, this includes the Master 100-ton class. And then the Upgrade 100 to 200-ton class, followed by the Apprentice Mate Upgrade.

Able Seaman (AB). This class is 5-days and $700.

Tankerman PIC (barge) DL. This class is 5-days and $700.

Radar Observer Classes

Firstly, radar and ARPA classes are limited to six or fewer mariners. And secondly, they may be available for custom scheduling depending on instructor and classroom availability.

Radar Observer Unlimited. This class is 4-days and $600.

Automatic Radar Plotting Aids (ARPA). This class is 4-days and $600.

Combined Radar and ARPA. This class is 7-days and $900.

Upgrade Existing License Classes

Firstly, upgrade classes require the mariner to hold a valid license or course completion certificate. Secondly, the mariner should also meet the sea service experience requirements for the upgrade. Lastly, these upgrade class save time and money by not repeating the original class.

Upgrade OUPV to Master 25, 50, 100-ton. This class is 4-days and $600.

Upgrade OUPV Inland to OUPV Near Coastal. This class is 4-days and $600.

Upgrade 100-ton or less to Master or Mate 200-ton. This class is 4-days and $600.

Upgrade Master 200-ton or less Inland to Near Coastal. This class is 4-days and $600.

Celestial Navigation (200-ton). This class is 5-days and $800. Most important, mariners taking this class should have good math skills, and knowledge of basic calculator functions.

Add-on Classes

Firstly, add-on classes require the mariner to have a valid license or course completion certificate. Secondly, these classes are scheduled one student at a time by appointment.

Apprentice Mate (steersman) of Towing. This class is 2-days and $400. Most important, mariners taking this class must hold a Master 200-ton license, or valid 200-ton completion certificate.

Commercial Assistance Towing. This half-day (4-hour) class is $100. Most important, mariners taking this class must have a valid OUPV or Master license or completion certificate.

Auxiliary Sail. This half-day (4-hour) class is $100. Most important, mariners taking this class should have a valid Master or Mate license or course completion certificate.

Refresher and Renewal Class

Firstly, renewal classes are one-day classes, scheduled by appointment seven-days a week. Secondly, the cost is $200.

Radar Recertification. To explain, this class will renew any Radar Observer Endorsement.

License Refresher. To explain, this class will renew any OUPV, Master or Mate 25, 50, 100 or 200-ton license.
